I have an idea for a website and I’ve been quoted around $5k plus to have it built even though I don’t think its all that technical I was told that’s about the base price for a website design etc. The website is more than just a homepage though. I would say its as complicated as a social networking site with user accounts similar to say myspace. I think the labor would be cheaper if I got it built in say India or some other country overseas but I’m scared of the risks. (Labor in india is between 15-25 dollars/hour) while here in the U.S it starts at 50 and goes up to about 150/hr. I don’t want someone to steal my idea, I want to be able to manage, and I don’t want to be scammed out my money. The site will also need to have search engine optimization capabilities. What do you think, is it worth the savings, whats your opinion or some other possible solutions. Help please!
Post the job on getafreelancer.com and elance.com and start bidding at around $3,000. I bet people will bid it down to at least $2400.00. There’s really no way to protect your idea unless you patent it, but I don’t think you can patent website ideas, who knows, might be worth looking into.

I am an amateur website designer/coder/webmaster. I have designed 1 page and have been through some schooling for Web Coding and other coding and computer classes. I started for the woman I work for now and re-designed her page and also more than doubled her sales through self-taught Search Engine Optimization. Someone she knows wants a site done just like hers and I need to know a price to quote her when I talk to her but I was working hourly when I re-designed the one that I already did. What is a good set price to do a site?
If the business is giving you the content and the pics they want on the stie and its a simple 4 page site I would charge like 100 to 200 depending.
since you are just starting out give them a deal and get your name out there trust me it works I get all my customers from word of mouth since I always give good deals on stuff.

There is no recourse when using Western Union. Meaning, if you take their deposit and provide nothing in return, they are out the money. Also, no legitimate SEO company would request payment this way.
Get a PayPal business account. It will protect you and them and will make you look more professional. SEO is not considered a "real business" by many merchant banks so getting a merchant account will be next to impossible for your business without a real history of doing business.
