*** I would consider myself quite good at web DESIGN, but I wouldn’t say expert A List Apart type material!!! ***

What do you think guys..?

What you want to do is figure out an average of how long it takes you to do a job. For that job you bid on how many hours it will take you based on your average. If you are bidding without competition then you want to bid based on a worst case scenario, at least if you are really good.

http://www.UndergroundTrainingLab.com In early 2008 I spoke at the Secret Society of Traffic and Conversion Seminar for my friends Buck Rizvi and Brock Felt. The attendees paid thousands to be there but I’m sharing my 3 hour presentation from the seminar with you for free. I outlined the social networking and web 2.0 strategies that I personally use to drive tons of traffic to build my list and make more sales. I covered dozens of topics including, but not limited to, internet marketing, creating a sales funnel, search engine optimization (seo), myspace, youtube, squidoo, email marketing, wordpress, rss feeds, openx ad server, affiliate marketing, blogs, getting more traffic to your sites, social profile pages, social networking, social media, and more!

I learned that for H1B visa, the occupational title that my employer applies for me should emphasize my education and qualifications. I have a bachelor’s degree in English, but “General Manager” is the title that my employer will apply for me to bring me to America and work for his family based ecommerce business (isn’t incorporated). I’ve worked for him for 2 months now via the Internet from across the Pacific. I do Market Research, Product Research, Business Applications/Softwares Researching and Testing, Website Optimization, Search Engine Optimization, Competitor Price Researching, Price Analysis, Profit Projection, Order Placing, Shipment Tracking, Customer Service, etc. Basically I work as a “General Manager” of the business though I don’t manage any human as we don’t have any other employees. I manage, manipulate, and monitor a wide range of softwares and web applications which perform almost all business functions. I really think I’m a “General Manager”, but will USCIS agree?

Don’t even apply for H1B for a "General Manager"of this company with a degree in English. It’s going to be a waste of time and money, as there is no chance that your application will be approved.

Before you do anything, you need to familiarize yourself with the requirements for this type of visa. According to USCIS "The H-1B categories apply to aliens coming temporarily to perform services in a specialty occupation, or as a fashion model of distinguished merit and ability. The FY2001, 2002, and 2003 cap on H1-B admissions is 65,000 workers." So if you decide to apply, you need to make sure that you meet the qualifications and that the cap is not full.

Take a look at USCIS’ "Temporary Benefits Employment Categories and Required Documentation" page:

Good luck.

I agree with Terry (the other post), for a H1 you need to have highly need jobs skills and the a degree which you say you have. But also the US employer has to prove that he can not find an American to do that job. One requirement he has to do as part of this visa is advertise your job, and interview any applicants. He has to prove he has taken this step, he can not just say that he did it. The job has to be advertised for a certain period of time in the paper/trade journals, company website etc , and it has to state it is in reference to a H1.

Will you get a visa? well it is a hard visa to get and in very high demand. However if this company has offices in your home country then one option would be an L visa. Again for both visas his company has to meet certain requirements to apply for the visa. He is not going to get one if his company is in a tiny office, with two employees basically.

I will be building an e-commerce website to sell products. I would like to know what is the best one for loading products, search engine optimization, price, etc. I found one at http://www.sitesell.com
Does it look good for the money or are there better ones out there. Thanks. Let me know if you need more info to answer my question.

I am a huge fan of SiteSell (or SBI as it is often known). I used it to build my website (1st url below) and have had great success with it in just a few months.

If you want to see more evidence about it, go to the 2nd url and click on the left hand menu on "Proof", "Results" etc or look and see which biz model fits yours best.

There are other good products, but this is what I have experience with, and nobody else backs up their claims with as many real life case stories or as much statistical evidence.

Good luck – it is not "get rich quick" but it is very rewarding.

Cheers, Sarah

I am about to launch a web site selling coffe and tea. I don’t know anything about search engine optimization, the companies that are supposed to do it for you, etc. Anyone with a web site have any insight on services/prices, etc. Thanks!

I suggest http://www.seotrends.in – it has everything on SEO/SEM Industry.

I made a website for a dentist and he is looking for a company that will submit his site for their search engine so when someone types in Miamisburg, Ohio dentist his name shows up in the top 10. Can you list a company that will do this for a decent price? Or does it even cost any money to even do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can submit it to Google and Yahoo and more than likely Google and Yahoo will come and index the site. What you need to do to rank better is optimize the website. Check out Search Engine Marketing Inc. it will give you some basic info to optimize the website. Focus on the URL name and title tag for starters

I’m a very small startup social networking site and I need traffic; however, when I checked the prices for SEO, I was shocked at the prices. Maybe I’m just naive or SEO is definately worth the price it demands.

Any opinions on how effective SEO’s are and if the prices are worth its reputation?

For example, the cost for SEO and maintenance for 3 keywords is $500 setup fee and $200 annual maintenance. For 20 keywords, it is $2,300 setup fee and $1,000 annual maintenance.

I know some SEO’s go as expensive s $25,000 – $100,000.

SEO charges may be shocking in light of the simple fact that most website owners and designers do not know how to go about on their own to achieve high SEO rankings. Here’s a step-by-step procedure on how to achieve and acquire large net traffic.

The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is
to first set up a website and publish its domain name
on major search directories such as Google.com,
Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... and
MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these
search directories to provide them with goods and
services. In a sense, these search directories are a
very large Internet Yellow Pages.

Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage
fail to contain "generic" keywords, then anyone using
such "generic" queries will not be able to discover
your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,
in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.

You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,
when observed and committed in designing of a website
with placement of various critical metatags that can
surely achieve a high search engine presence and
increase Internet traffic to your website. These
metatag strategies work well with published webpages
at Google and Yahoo.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based
website, make sure to fill-in the property entries
such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing
to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can
be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the
Internet audience and their incoming setup. For
example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages
take too long to load up and therefore analog users
will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the
Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL
lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So
before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple
question, "Who’s my end user – is he on dialup or
DSL?" And if you had to choose between these two users
for maximum marketability, then select analog users
since 80% of most resident users are still analog
Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages
is best for them.

A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,
is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit
the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a
graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.

Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots
are unable to properly classify textual material.

Placement of Metatags:

A ranking or search order does take place with Google
and Yahoo and it begins with the "Title" metag which
should consist of no more than 60 characters separated
by commas. The "Title" should describe in generic terms, the goods and services, followed by a location from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state. The placement of a domain name which is not generic within the "Title" is not appropriate, unless your
domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the "Description" which is
usually up to 41 words to form a complete paragraph which
best describes one’s goods and services. It is not merely a list.

And the very last category – "Keywords" are also
somewhat limited to 15 words which can be plural
and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries
which could be mistaken as "spamdexed entries" which
is defined as the loading, and submission of
repetitive words into a particular metatag category.
"Spamdexing" when discovered on a webpage and reported
to Google’s spamreport.com can result in the
elimination of your website from their search
directory.

Here’s an example of a very highly-placed website on
Google.com: Begin with the very "generic" search query
"sandwiches downtown los angeles," taking note to not
abbreviate Los Angeles to "LA" and of course, leave
out the parentheses ("). It will bring up some 2.4
million+ search results. Check out where "Nazos.net"
is ranked. It’s on the SECOND FRONT [ranked 15]!
Again, Nazos.net’s high web presence was achieved by
proper web design and placement of relevant metatags
according to Google’s publication guidelines.

Good luck!
