Advantages of PPC (Pay Per Click) over SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
An effective marketing and advertising technique is one which allows your website
to be easily found on the search engines like Google, Yahoo, & MSN. There are 2 ways to get search engine
traffic One is called “Pay Per Click” or PPC and the other is called “Search Engine Optimization” or SEO.
As the name suggests, PPC works on a model wherein a
Advertiser pays to Google, Yahoo, & MSN in order to get preference of display on the search page.
The money is paid “per click” hence Pay Per Click. PPC is based on what Google, Yahoo, & MSN call the
“Quality Score” or Quality Index” Successful PPC or Pay Per Click campaigns have a high Quality Score.
Pay per click (PPC) advertising is the most preferred form of online advertising, used by business
houses for the profitable marketing of their products and services. The simplicity of this
method makes PPC more popular than other methods like search engine optimization (SEO) etc.
Some of the widely-known benefits of PPC, Pay Per Click in Google, Yahoo, & MSN have been
briefly discussed as follows:SEO, “Search Engine Optimization” focuses on increasing the traffic on website
through the search engine by only natural algorithm results. It involves proper coding, presentation,
use of proper keywords in order to attain a higher rank in the search display page. It does not
involve any advertising cost to be paid to the search engine.
Pay Per Click has some inherent advantages over Search Engine Optimization, though the latter might sound
more legitimate. However, there are no clear cut first and second positions, the fact of the matter is
that for some organizations PPC might yield better outputs as compared to SEO. Some of the advantages
of PPC are enlisted below;Since the advertiser pays per click, PPC models offer flexibility of choice. One can go online anytime,
select spending cap, keywords etc and pay by credit cards. This also gives control of the maximum money one
wants to spend, thereby controlling your debits.
1- Instant launch: PPC, ‘Pay Per Click’ campaign gives the advertiser an instant and immediate ‘launching pad’.
It is quick to implement and, compared to other forms of online advertising, faster to respond to.
With regard to any change – in market demand, company situation, or budget – the campaign can
be changed accordingly.2- Measurable: The ‘actual’ benefits of PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising can be
easily measured and quantified, with the help of CTR (click through rates) and CPC (cost per click).
One can get an idea of the number of visitors visiting one’s site and the ‘conversion’ of the visits. This way ‘cost per
conversion’ can be worked out and amendments, if any required, can be made for increased profitability.
3- Changeable ‘factors’: The factors affecting PPC [Pay Per Click] advertising – keywords, ad text and landing
pages – can be changed as and when required. Specific keywords, appealing text and relevant
landing pages can make a great impact on the visitors, thereby helping in ‘maturing’ transactions.
Moreover, if the numbers of orders and enquiries received is too high, PPC can also be turned off
or reduced quickly.
4- Cost-effective: Considering the short-run benefits only, PPC advertising works out to be extremely
‘cost-effective’, more so if the industry ‘bid’ prices are low in Google, Yahoo, & MSN. In such a case,
it becomes easy for the advertiser to reach his ‘break even’ point and excel thereon.
5- Potential for small business: Its aforesaid ‘cost-effectiveness’ makes PPC, Pay Per Click, a viable choice of
proprietors of small to medium businesses. The ‘level playing field’ that PPC offers for everyone,
helps small enterprises to compete even with large multinational groups. In fact, a careful choice of
PPC parameters can bring a higher-ranking position for any entrepreneur – big or small.
6- Small initial investment: There is absolutely no ‘fees’ charged by the search engines to place or
run any ad. One has to Pay for the users that Click on the ad. In order to make one’s site accessible
to the users, one need to quote one’s ‘bid’.

http://www.gopherforum.com Search engine optimization 101 for lawn care businesses. – GopherHaul Podcast

You can put together a great looking site but people need to find it when they are searching for lawn service. How do you get your site to appear when a potential customer is looking for lawn care service? You need to know what they are looking for and you need to give them what they want. The keyword here, is keywords!

What are your keywords? Well say for instance you lived in Denver, Co and offered lawn care. A potential customer is most likely going to be looking for Denver Lawn Care or Denver lawn maintenance. If you are unsure of what your keywords should be, ask your friends or family, what words they would search for to find a local lawn care business online and go with the words you hear most often in response. I would think you would want to keep the keyword count to a minimum, maybe 4 or so.
Your ideal keyword count should be between 10% and 20% of the total word count of your site, so ask yourself, where are you ranking?

To figure this out do the following.

* Right click on your websites main page and then left click on select all.
* Open up your word processor and then paste the text into a new document.
* Use the word count feature of your word processor to show you the total word count of your webpage.
* Then do a search and see how many times each of your keywords appear.
* (total word count) divided by (keyword count) will give you the percentage.

Try this out and see how you are doing.

Now lets see how it is put to use. A new forum member posted an introduction and asked a great question I used a Gopher lawn care business web template from this site to create my lawn care company website and just got it on the net earlier this morning. How can I attract potential customers to my website?

You are not going to believe this example I am about to show you but its real. Matt has done such a great job with key words and having other sites link to his lawn care website that he appears in 7 out of the top 10 search results. Thats right! You heard right! In fact, if you were competing with him in his area, the chances of a new customer finding you are next to nothing because most people will not go beyond the first 10 results to their search.
Matt: When people to a search for lawn service or lawn care in my area I am usually have all 7 slots out of 10 or sometimes 8 slots out of 10 on the search engine. Do a search for lawn care in dothan on google and you will see.

You will see a bunch of J & M Lawn Care links. Also I am located in the local business directory.

This is just so outstanding! If you are going to have any chance at all attracting customers on the internet, you need to visit these sites that are linking to Matts site and then fill in your business information to have them direct to you in your area. Also review your key words and let us know how all this works out for you. Join in on the discussion at the Gopher Lawn Care Business Forum here.
